Every word we speak can be a brick to build with or a bulldozer to destroy. Our thoughts not only affect others but can also affect us in a most amazing way.We must choose our thoughts carefully because they affect us and ,consequently, those around us.Proverbs 23:7 tells us that "as he thinks in his heart so is he".
There is no way we can think critical, negative thoughts about people and then be loving and kind to them when we are in their presence. If we want to show people the love of Christ we must first make a decision to think good thoughts about them.
This choice to think right thoughts is an ongoing war that rages on the battlefield of our minds.II Corinthians 10:5 says we are to cast "down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ"(NKJV).
After the wrong thoughts are cast down we are to replace them with right ones(Philippians 4:8).
Choose your words wisely that they may produce a harvest in the lives of others.
We need to show love with our actions.1 John 3:18 says ,"Let us not love merely in theory or in speech but in deed and truth.A simple act of kindness such as giving away a purse,a meal,or spending some time listening to someone in need makes the individual feel wanted .
Genesis 12:2 says,"I will bless you and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing".The more we use our resources to be a blessing to others, the more God will bless us.
One of the most rewarding things I've discovered is to show love in practical ways-with our thoughts, words and possessions.Love can melt the hardest heart, heal the wounds of a broken heart, and quiet the fears of an anxious heart.AMEN!!
