The Holy spirit is the primary way God guides His believers today.The Holy Spirit,all of it,indwells every believer.Every person,whether believer or non-believer is made up of body,soul and spirit.When we become a believer,the spirit takes up residence in us.
Ephesians 1:13 says,"When you heard the word of truth,the gospel of your salvation-in Him when you believed-were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.He is the down payment of our inheritance,for the redemption of the possession,to the praise of his glory"(HCSB).We never have to question our salvation.
Deuteronomy 5:24 says,"The Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness,and we have heard His voice..we have seen today that God speaks with man".
When God chose to speak in the Bible,those who heard didn't doubt whether God had spoken or what He was asking them to do.He made His word clear.The primary method God uses to speak has changed,but His goal has not changed.He wants His children to hear ,recognize,and obey his voice.When you become a Christian,your spirit becomes new.You don't become changed,you become exchanged.The spirit of the Living God indwells your human spirit.He gives you new life.
We must develop spiritual ears to hear the Spirit's leading.God desires for us to know His will.He is not hiding it from us.When we ask the Lord to confirm what He is saying to us through the Holy Spirit,we can be sure He is indeed speaking.He allows the Holy spirit to speak to us and verify His message through His written Word,circumstances,or even another person.
